An open letter to “nominal” and “liberal” Catholics on the Freedom from Religion website calls for Cafeteria Catholics to quit the Church. Leaving aside the author’s radically liberal agenda and her misconceptions and distortions about the Catholic Church, I hope that this call for Cafeteria Catholics to leave the Church proves successful. I agree with the Holy Father, Pope Benedict, who understands that the Church needs to be purified in order to fight secular fundamentalism more successfully. If so-called Catholics cherish their heresy more than their desire to be in communion and obedience with the Mystical Body of Christ, they should have the courage of their convictions and leave the Church.

That letter was despicable, both the atheists that put it out and the NY Times for publishing. I can understand the atheists but the NYT proves they’re the facilitators of the left wing.
I can’t agree on wishing the Liberal and Nominal Catholics go. That would be the opposite of evangelizing. It’s certainly their almost existential choice, but we need to pray for their conversion.
The catholic church will live for ever
under the protection God almithy. Leaving behind those that are not in harmonywith the sacred spirit of Unity & under complete sumision of St.Peter’s representative. There is only one truth to
follow. You are free to obey or not.

Was it “politically incorrect” for me to contact the FFRF and tell them their philosophy is wrong? If it was, then I did my job. And wow. Talk about a bitter woman. I pray that one day Annie Laurie Gaylor will find Truth and peace that comes along with it.

I’d love to quit, but the RCC won’t recognize defection. So, tell me what procedure to follow and I’ll gladly follow it.
Chris D.,
It seems that you have “left” the Church already, although in one sense you are right.
Ultimately you can’t “quit” because you will still be answerable to God upon your death. Jesus doesn’t cease to exist because people stop believing in Him. In that sense you are, of course, correct. I suppose the Church is like Hotel California you can check out but you can never leave! Perhaps it might be better to seek reconciliation with Christ’s Mystical Body. Why not check back in??!!
