Together with Robert Asch, (fresh back from the USA where he was a Wilbur Research Fellow at the Russel Kirk Center) and our colleague Adrian Moore, History and Spanish Master at Chavagnes, we have put together a Catholic wiki called www.cathwiki.org.

There are articles from the old Catholic encyclopedia in need of editing and bringing up to date. We are also adding new articles every week.

We want this to be a truly Catholic wiki, with a truly Catholic ‘POV’ (that’s wikispeak for ‘point of view’.) Frank Sheed, in Theology and Sanity, suggested that to refuse to believe in God is a sign of madness. After all, teaches Vatican I, the existence of God can be know by reason. I think you get the idea …. cathwiki.org will be a place for the encyclopedic discussion of faith and culture from a sane, Catholic point of view: the best vantage point from which to admire God’s creation and man’s achievements.

If you want to be part of this mammoth encyclopedic adventure (or if you just want to look something up) then come and visit us at www.cathwiki.org. So far, there are about 10,000 articles, which is not bad, but we don’t yet cover anything. So if you don’t find what you want to know, find some people who do know, and ask them nicely to write an entry for us.

If you represent a Catholic apostolate or institution of some kind, you are welcome to create an article about your own activity. Try to be objective, though, and be prepared for others to edit your work.

God bless,
Ferdi McDermott
