Here’s an excellent article by Rod Dreher about the ways in which Dante’s masterpiece, The Divine Comedy, can help us examine our own consciences and embrace the purgatory of penitence on our paths to recovery from sinfulness.
It is an excellent article. I rarely read the WSJ but happened to pick up a hotel desk copy, and enjoyed it very much. Excellent read.
An oddity of it is that the article is so supremely and self evidently Catholic, that I was surprised that Dreher had converted to the Orthodox. An article of this type would lead me to suspect and hope he’ll return to Catholicism.
