On the morning after the Fourth of July celebrations, it’s a joy to be able to announce a new scholarly edition of essays on Flannery O’Connor, arguably America’s greatest twentieth century writer. The volume, the title of which in Italian translates as “Reason, Fiction and Faith”, is edited by Enriqué Fuster and Father John Wauck of Santa Croce University in Rome and contains essays on O’Connor in English, Spanish and Italian. The essays are the papers that were presented at the international syposium on Flannery O’Connor held at Santa Croce University last year, the largest ever conference on O’Connor’s work. The volume is reasonably priced and the bulk of the essays are in English. As such, it is worth buying even if you can’t read Italian or Spanish.
