A splendid article! I just finished reading Gertrud von Le Fort’s book: The Song at the Scaffold, which revealed a side of the French Revolution that I had never been taught previously. Mainstream textbooks focus on the French Revolution’s anger at the rich and powerful rulers, but leave out the equally horrible massacre of Catholics. Reading this article after finishing such a book has truly enlightened me to the horrors of the French Revolution, and proved to me once again that the numerous sufferings of Catholics will never be given the honor they deserve.
