I’m delighted to learn of the launch of a new website dedicated to the great and greatly underrated poet Dunstan Thompson, a literary “revert” who returned to the Faith of his childhood and youth after a brief dalliance with homosexuality. After his return to Rome, he wrote some of the finest religious verse of the twentieth century, a sample of which is included in Flowers of Heaven, the anthology of Christian verse that I edited. The website includes positive appraisals of Thompson’s work from Dana Gioia and Gregory Wolfe, personal memoirs of those who knew him, a brief biographical sketch and much more. I cannot recommend Dunstan Thompson highly enough and therefore urge all visitors to this site to check out the new site: www.dunstanthompson.co.uk.
