One of the easiest mistakes to make when reading Gulliver’s Travels by Jonathan Swift is to assume that Gulliver’s views are those of Swift. Nothing could be further from the truth about this classic of English literature. In the latest installment of Kris McGregor’s audio series of interviews with me about the classic works published as Ignatius Critical Editions I discuss this critical distance between Swift and his protagonist. In the course of the interview Kris and I discuss how Swift’s famous satire is an attack on scientism, progressivism and secularism from the perspective of a tradition-oriented Christian.
