A new legislative push now aims to make it illegal for people to seek help in overcoming unwanted same-sex attraction. A “self-identified Catholic” in California has introduced legislation that would prohibit minors from seeking therapy even with parental consent, and would allow adults to do so only by signing an “informed consent” document stating that they “know” an attempt to change their homosexual orientation may result in depression and suicide, along with other dangerous side-effects. That there is NO evidence whatsoever of any such consequence makes no difference, because the “informed consent” says only that therapy “may” have such a consequence, thereby avoiding any legal responsibility to explain itself at all—much less, explain its language. A victory for utterly baseless innuendo.

What a strange world it is. A minor cannot get an aspirin from a school nurse without a parent’s written consent, but she can get an abortion even without a parent’s knowledge. A teen-ager who may be confused about his sexual “identity” cannot seek help, even with his parent’s consent, to overcome a same-sex attraction he doesn’t want, but he can get therapy in “accepting” his homosexuality—with mandated insurance coverage. It is even legal now to give children sex-change operations.
We live in a screwed up world, no ‘ifs’ ‘ands’ or ‘buts’ about it. This is the ideological claptrap we live in. That should be obvious to ANYONE with a brain. Seriously, abortion without parental consent is okay, but getting an aspirin from a nurse is not? You have to be a fool or a liar to deny that is ideology at play. And for the homosexaul thing, well that is obvious too. The only danger at play is that there may be some people out there who don’t want to live the “gay” life, and parents who may not want their kids ‘out and proud’. The pro-gay crowd would never stand for such a thing, anything that denies that homosex is anything but wonderful is a problem to them. And as for suicide what a joke! Check out the statistics of active homosexuals, thats a prety high depression and suicide rate! In fact, those rates are still high even in areas that welcome homosexuals. So it seems to me same-sex attraction may be the root cause, not its non-acceptance.

You’re right. The article says it was the pro-gay lobby who requested the legislation. It has already passed some committee and will be put before the state assembly 8 May, I think.
Yes, substance-abuse, depression, and self-destructive behavior are rampant among people with ssa. The purpose of the legislation is to blame the attempt to overcome ssa for its own tragic consequences. And yes, that is insane.
The anti-life agenda barely troubles to disguise itself now. The movement to destroy biological reality is now so strong that it can count on people’s acceptance even of insanity.
It seems that when G.K. Chesterton deemed this the “Muddle Age” he was being kind. This age is beyond “muddled”, it is insane. It seems to be so far from God that the only way to be further from Him is to be in eternal damnation. Though, what gives me hope is that this an age attributed to man. Thank God we are in His age, the Age of Mercy.
