I thought I’d share an e-mail that I’ve just received. My response follows.

My reason for writing concerns a friend of mine who wants to believe in the Christian God, but cannot quite make the leap. He is passionately interested in Philosophy and I have already introduced him to St. Thomas Aquinas and the late Metropolitan Anthony Bloom. Still he remains with one foot in each door — belief and unbelief. I have been considering Lewis or Chesterton as a next step. Do you have any suggestions?

I would suggest two books for your philosopher friend:

A Handbook of Catholic Apologetics by Kreeft and Tacelli
Reason to Believe by Richard Purtill
