I am always extremely gratified and somewhat humbled to learn that my books have played a part (always under grace) in people’s conversion to the Catholic Faith. Since it is always edifying “good news” to learn of conversions or, in this case, a return to the Faith, I thought I’d share an e-mail that I received this morning. I’ve preserved the correspondent’s right to privacy by omitting his name:

My name is ________________, I´m from Spain, we contacted in the past about the translation into the Spanish language of an article from the Saint Austin Review.
I just wanted to say thanks to you because just some days ago, on Holy Thursday, I had Communion for the first time after more than 25 years. I owe my returning to the Church and the practice of Catholicism to many friends, but also to my readings, in which your books, particularly Literary Converts, played a big part. That your book not only was of great inspiration for me, also forwarded me to read many authors that were important in my conversion. Your last book, Race with the Devil was also so interesting and encourages me in the last steps.  Although true conversion is a work of Grace, and it´s something never complete that you have to work on every day, I find your books so helpful in the rational first steps of the path to the Truth.
Yours sincerely ….
